Girls Weekend In Carlsbad, CA

Good afternoon! I hope you had a fantastic weekend!!

Last weekend Klay, my Mom, and I gathered all of our stuff up, piled it into our cute little rental car (One we had picked up earlier that day), and began our journey to Carlsbad California. A few days before, my Mother had decided she wanted to stop half way between Vegas and Carlsbad and get a room in Hesperia (The only thing about that, is Hesperia is not exactly half way, but more of like an additional hour away.) Lol Honestly I didn't really mind, I'm not really a long distance type of... well, anything anyways. Lol (Usually Nathaniel is the driver and I'm more of like to bad-ass sidekick/DJ/napper.) So, after 3 long hours of seeing dessert and rolling hills out of our car window. We finally arrived to Hesperia. We all went to bed exhausted and woke up SUPER early (8 am) Lol the next morning and made our way to the all-inclusive "continental breakfast". Which of course consisted of the travel essentials like watered down orange juice, instant coffee, and the cutest little muffins practically marinated in sugar! (You know the ones kids beg for in the grocery store between the ages of 5 and high. Yup, those!!) Haha Of course Klay was in sugar muffin heaven and had the biggest smile plastered on to her face all morning! (She's also currently obsessed with hotel blow dryers. I honestly have no idea why, but she would not leave until her hair was a least bone dry!) After we ate we finished getting ready, piled back into the car and made the rest of our way to Carlsbad by noon. Of course by then our sugar high had run low and so had the food in our tummies. This time we decided to fuel up on amazing fish tacos and creamy froyo. Mmm... (That's one thing I absolutely love about traveling, Diets tend to fly right out of the car window!) After we ate, we picked Klay up some very interesting looking sandals (Gotta love that kid!) and finally made it to the Flower Fields by 2! The parking honestly wasn't too bad (California people are SO much nicer than Vegas's!) and you could literally see all of the bright flowers from the parking lot!! It is breath taking!! Thankfully we pre-bought our entry tickets online so we were just a barcode scan away and entered the fields wide eyed and amazed.

Other than a quick trip to the car for a little photo download to empty my cameras SIMS card (The photo opportunities are endless!), we spent a good 3-4 hours bouncing around between different flower exhibits. They separated all of the flowers into different categories and used them to make fun little games for children to play. (Or 21 years olds.) Such as scavenger hunts, a mining stand for children to collect shinny looking rocks that had hidden meanings behind them, (Klays favorite rock had a light pink hue to it, which meant love. How fitting?), but of course mine and Klays favorite part of the entire flower field experience was this beautiful maze made up of different wild flowers and vines that grew to the height of my shoulders! We took full advantage of our sibling rivalry and raced through the maze Tom Cruise style. Twisting and turning (Pissing a few fellow maze runners off while we were at it! Of course we didn't mean to accidentally bump into them or bob and weave through their photographs and deep conversations!) Sometimes I feel like people take life way too seriously. As if only the productive moments count?! Anyways, (Sorry people!) Klay took full advantage of any small crevices she could fit through and barely won with a .5 second lead! Though it stung a little, it was definitely a loss worth losing ;) (I added a photo of her winning smile above!)

The next day we woke up to the sound of our neighbors rustling around on the other side of our paper thin motel walls and a light cloud that reached across the sky. One that gave just enough warmth to enjoy a patio breakfast alongside a day full of beaches. *Wink* *Wink* For breakfast, we ended up going to this incredible cafe called Topes Cafe that had an entire wall covered in living succulents and cinnamon rolls that could feed an army! (Just the thought of it is making me hungry!) After we ate we headed straight for the beach. A place where Klaiden seriously could not stop talking about the entire trip! Once we had arrived she jumped straight out of the car and ran full speed into the ice cold water! (I couldn't help but wince as the salty liquid washed over her tiny 10 year old toes.) As Klay splashed around and made new little sea squirrel friends (Aka little Sandy's.)and as my Mother scavenged the beach for small imperfect shells to fill her pockets. I couldn't help but sit back in the warm sand and enjoyed the view one splasher and scavenger at a time.
